Exchequer from IRIS Enterprise Software gets the Seal of Approval from EM Richford

Established in 1878, EM Richford is by tradition a rubber stamp manufacturer. However, as the years have passed the company has concentrated on becoming a wholesaler of craft products. This has resulted in a change to their business model and a need to address their financial management workflow.
EM Richford has been running an accounting system for over 20 years and has most recently been a user of DIBS. However, despite feeling the solution had served them well, EM Richford felt it lacked easy exporting of information, especially into Microsoft Excel, and was not a futureproof offering.
When invited to attend a presentation about two financial management solutions, the team from EM Richford gladly accepted. Ray Napper, IT Director at EM Richford comments, “When presented with Exchequer and EFACS, we realised immediately what we had been missing from our current system. We invited both manufacturers to visit us and fully demonstrate their solutions. When comparing the suitability, Exchequer won hands down as it fitted our business better and showed a great deal of flexibility.”
The team at EM Richford are specifically interested in the ease and power of data extraction and reporting capabilities of Exchequer. Using a combination of standard reports, Visual Report Writer and powerful Excel integration, EM Richford will be able to deliver the right information, in the right format for management meetings.
‘We feel we will learn a lot about the business and customer base by facilitating Exchequer to turn our data into information,” continues Ray. “We fully expect Exchequer to answer questions we had not thought of asking yet and lead us to make positive changes in our accounting workflow.”
EM Richford will see an immediate improvement in their efficiency, thanks to Exchequer. As many processes as possible will be automated from VAT to debtor chasing, bank reconciliation to reordering from suppliers. The team will retain overall control but will be able to carry out tasks at the touch of a button, including faxing or emailing reports, documents, etc, rather than using traditional much slower methods.
Ray concludes, “Exchequer will be central to our business. Before we chose to adopt the software, I visited both Head Office and a reference site so I could gain a better understanding of the IRIS set-up. Too often businesses buy products from companies who don’t have the history or capital investment to stay in business. I was suitably impressed by all I saw from IRIS, which further compounded our decision that Exchequer was the ideal solution for our needs.”
The Southwest Wood Burning Centre looks to improve the running of its business with Exchequer from IRIS Enterprise Software

Established in 1970, The South West Wood Burning Centre offers a comprehensive range of stoves and cookers. Based in Devon, with a national distribution network, the company has a 6,000 sq ft showroom with over 150 products on display.
The organisation was looking to improve the day-to-day running of the business, specifically in the areas of speed and accuracy. As users of Sage Line 50, The Southwest Wood Burning Centre found the system was unable to hold enough data for them and was too slow. When looking for a new financial management system, the company chose to evaluate Exchequer from IRIS Enterprise Software as well as Sage MMS.
Tanya Boxall at Southwest Wood Burning Centre comments, “Exchequer was much more of a user-friendly system than any other on the market. It seemed to fit our business needs very well and was a cost-effective solution.”
The Southwest Wood Burning Centre chose to implement a 16-user version of Exchequer to handle all their accounts procedures such as banking, invoicing, stock control, purchase ordering, sales ordering and stock-taking. The company also chose to adopt additional modules including Sales and Purchase Order Processing, Visual Report Writer and Paperless. The Sales and Purchase Order Processing module gives them total flexibility in fulfilling customer requirements, whilst providing an unparalleled level of traceability and integration with other modules.
“We expect Exchequer to improve the accuracy of our paperwork and speed up the turnover of every day work,” continues Tanya. “The system is easy to use and we are particularly impressed with its handling of stock control, something many financial systems let you down on. The IRIS team have been helpful and answered all queries we have thrown at them!”
